The whole idea that our tendency is always away from God and towards selfishness and greed is a very important concept that we all need to understand and be reminded of as we go through life. Thankfully though, this is not the end of the story. We have a God who knows what he is doing, is powerful enough to do what needs to be done, and is loving enough to do it for us.

All three sides of the triangle need to be there for us to put events in our lives into perspective. The question we ask is "Why is this happening to me?". If we believe that our God knows what he is doing and is strong enough to do it and loves us enough to let it happen or do it for us, that gives us the perspective we need.
At the end of the evening, I talked a little bit about how the Joseph story is a little "Disney" like because it always ends up with everyone happy. Then we watched this video.
Is it possible to really feel that way when you are in so much pain?
How could a God who cares about Zac Smith's daughter, take her dad away at such a vulnerable time in her life?
Is this guy delusional? There is nothing good about this!
And Yet....
I don't have all of the answers, but I do have a God who does and I believe he has the best in mind for me. When I submit to who He is, then I can face the hard times with confidence. Psalm 3:5 says "I lay down and slept; I wake again, for the LORD sustained me."ESV
Zac Smith had a website that tells the story before and after his death. You will find it here.
